News, Blogs and References

One of Seekport’s special features is the automatic recognition of document types. On our results page you will find some results flagged with a special icon. There are three icons, each representing a specific document type:

	News are articles from online news services. News results are ranked strongly by date, ensuring fresh results on current events.
	Blogs are documents from web logs, or internet diaries. Blogs are often used to comment on current affairs and can be considered a kind of internet vox populi. The real experts can often be found here.
	References are documents from online Encyclopedias and Glossaries offering definitions or short introductions to your search term.

Restricting your search to one document type or area

For each query, Seekport’s search software determines the total amount of hits, the amount of hits in each area (internet, images and products) and the amount of hits recognised as a special document type (news, blogs and references). The number of results are displayed in the in the status bar above the results list. By clicking on the icon or number of results in the status bar you can restrict your search to one specific area or document type.
